  1. We so often are tempted to forget. Who has ever truly become the amazing person they never dreamed they could be by being surrounded by comfort, wealth, and ease? It would like living on a lawn chair on a beach with a servant at one’s beck and call and expecting to learn to climb as well as the climber in your post.

  2. Hummm… at the major risk of sounding trite, so when do we stop calling them “obstacles” and start calling them – what? Interesting detours? Opportunities? LIfe-savers? Maybe that old route would have taken you across a collapsing snow bridge? Or an impassable bergschrund? I’m stumbling over one today that is definitely still looks like an obstacle. I’ll let you know what I’m calling in when I’ve figure it out!

  3. I decided that I am done with climbing mountains. I have decided to take an easier path along a winding road, step by step – and walking around the mud puddles or through them – but no climbing mountains. .
