Six ways whitewater rafting is like life:
1) The obstacles create the ride.
2) Rapids are usually followed by periods of calm waters, and vice versa. Just expect it.
3) Teamwork is essential to negotiate the tricky parts.
4) The best time comes from a balance of prudence and fun. (Yup, that’s me with my pink helmet o’ prudence!)
5) Stay present in the moment, or you may miss something important.
6) It’s about the journey, not the destination. Especially in rafting, when sometimes the destination is a wet, stinky van back to your car:(
This is soooo true!
This sounds like some great fun. If i could swim I would definitely take it up!!! Are you usually sore afterwards?
Not too sore. There are actually quite a few non-swimmers who do the easier rapids; you have life vests to keep you afloat. It’s a blast!
It does look like fun and working as a team can make for great stories afterwards. How long have you been at it?
I try to go at least once a year for the past 20 or so years. I don;t have enough big water nearby to be serious, so it’s just all in good fun.
Gotcha…well I guess I will put it on my bucket list!
Whitewater rafting is on my list of things to do..soon.. great words as well!!
I just went whitewater rafting about a week ago and it’s pretty sweet hitting 9 foot waves. Lets hear what you got!
