How a Date With a Dog Opened my Heart

  1. What a timely piece for me! I woke up this morning feeling a little blue and my sweet dog nuzzled up against me and licked the tip of my nose. We lay there for a while and I was so grateful for her love and her warmth. Since my last break-up 4 months ago, she is the only affection I receive on the weeks my kids are with their dad. I am so grateful for her and all she has taught me about love, security, and loyalty. 🙂

My ex had a dog when we got together and he mostly stayed with my ex mother in law, but I loved him dearly. The ex left me so quickly that I didn’t get to even say goodbye to the dog. My heart aches for him sometimes, and I hope he knows I miss him. Animals are great at unconditional love. 🙂

    • Sorry to hear that you lost touch with your dog. One of the most difficult aspects of my divorce was having to find new homes for my three dogs. He abandoned them in the basement and I was not able to care for them emotionally, physically, or financially. They all ended up in good homes, but when I think of them, I still cry.

Dogs really are amazing at unconditional and nonjudgmental love. We are so lucky when they touch our lives:)
